Minimum Wage Increase in Jamaica

January 24, 2013

The national minimum wage was increased from $4,500 to $5,000 per 40-hour work week in september 2012. It was announced by Labour of Social Security Minister, Hon. Derrick Kellier, during his contribution to the 2012/13 Sectoral Debate in Gordon House. He said the 11 per cent increase is as a result of recommendations from the Minimum Wage Advisory Commission. Also the minimum wage for industrial security guards, was increased to $7, 320.50 per 40- hour work week, representing an increase of 10 per cent. I strongly believe it a so called attempt at trying to improve the capacity for productivity improvement in workers of all categories.

The new rates for industrial security guards;

laundry allowance was increased from $30.25 to$ 33.30 per hour; firearm allowance was raised to $36.60 per hour, up from $33.28; and dog holder’s allowance was increased from $22.39 to $24.63 per hour. Life insurance remains at $2 million double indemnity. Although this is better than before, is this really enough???????????

The Inauguration of Barack Obama 2013

January 22, 2013

Obama wants to complete the Great Society project of such progressive forefathers as both Roosevelts and Lyndon Johnson, and make it sustainable in an America that faces unprecedented global competition.

Mr Obama's inaugural speech, delivered this morning beneath a bright, chilly Washington sky, offered a remarkably stark answer. He plans to confront Republicans, co-opt their most cherished beliefs about American exceptionalism and individualism, gays, the young, immigrants and environ...

Crime in Jamaica & Tourism

January 21, 2013
There is much controversy on whether or not crime is a major concern for tourists to Jamaica. In this article i will take no sides on the issue because there isn't enough facts to prove one way or the other. Whether deserved or not, Jamaica is generally depicted as having a high crime rate, particularly in certain neighborhoods of its larger cities such as in kingston and montego bay. Jamaican authorities and tourism bureaus claim that the crime rates in Jamaica are not significantly d...

Why Men Cheat

January 10, 2013
i talked about the ladies the other day now its the men
Men love to know that they are king of their castle, the greatest lion in the jungle. They wrestle inside themselves for recognition and appreciation. They rarely do anything for free. They always want a smile, a wink, a hug, or some sexual gesture, you are incredible moment, because it shows that they are appreciated. They don’t depend on their money or their status to give them this feeling, but rather, they depend on the women...

Is Money Evil?

January 7, 2013
Money is not the root of evil, who ever said this sure did an evil job at spreading the rumour that still haunts the minds of many. How much money can you make? It depends upon how much money you have the confidence to make. Confidence stems from ability. The more able you are, the more you have invested in your education and personal growth, the more confident you are of your work. When people evade education and opportunities for growth, they not only lack confidence but also self-es...
